What it is used for

As local anaesthesia.

Dosage

INJECTION: Adults: Initial: 50-100 mg IV given 25-50 mg/min, may repeat after 5 min. Max: 200-300 mg/hr. Following bolus, initiate with 1-4 mg/min continuous infusion. Maint: Adjust according to cardiac rhythm & toxicity. Children: 1 mg/kg bolus, then 30 mcg/kg/min. TOPICAL: Apply to affected area as needed; max 3 mg/kg/dose; do not repeat within 2 hr.
