Uses

Conjunctivitis and keratitis of allergic and infectious origin, marked by severe swelling and multiple vascular congestion. Inflammation of anterior uvea, scleritis, episcleritis, myositis and sympathetic ophthalmia. Post-operative treatment after eye surgery.

How to take it

Adults: 1 drop 1-4 times daily, in acute cases the drop may be used after every one hr.

Side effects

Aplastic anaemia, reversible rise in intraocular pressure after prolonged application.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Contraindications: Injuries and ulcerative conditions of the cornea, herpes simplex, vaccinia, TB infections, mycosis, glaucoma. Precautions: Chronic use, posterior subcapsular cataract, thinning of cornea, secondary infection, overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, children.

Advice

Wash hands properly before use. To instill medication into eyes, tilt head back, look upward, instill drops or apply thin layer of ointment inside lower eyelid. Close eye and roll eyeball in all directions. Do not blink for 30 seconds. Apply gentle pressure to inner corner of eye for 30 seconds. Contact prescriber if there is eye pain, changes in vision, no improvement or worsening of condition. Avoid touching tip of applicator with eye. Avoid prolonged use. Do not use any other eye preparation for atleast 10 minutes. Do not share medication with anyone else. Wear sunglasses when in sunlight to prevent photosensitivity.
