About Enoxacin

Uses

Infections of respiratory tract, ENT, skin and soft tissues, abdominal cavity, pelvis minor, kidney, urinary tract and genital organs.

How to take it

Adults: 400 mg twice daily for 7-14 days. Gonococcal urethritis: Single dose of 400 mg. Children: Not recommended.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Pregnancy: Contraindicated in pregnancy. Lactation: Contraindicated or not recommended. Contraindications: Children in growth phase, epileptics, hypersensitivity to quinolones.

Advice

Take 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals, with a full glass of water. Do not take aluminium-, calcium-, or magnesium-containing antacids, bismuth, didanosine (chewable or buffered tablets), if prescribed or products that contain iron or zinc for 8 hours before or 2 hours after taking enoxacin. If you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is nearly time for the next dose. Do not double the dose. Inform prescriber if there is tendon pain or inflammation and discontinue medication, and rest until tendinitis or tendon rupture is gone. Interactions with Enoxacin

Aluminum, calcium or magnesium containing antacids, didanosine, ferrous sulphate, magnesium containing laxatives, sucralfate, zinc, bismuth, cyclosporine, digoxin, NSAIDs, theophylline, warfarin, caffeine.
