About Flurbiprofen, Oral
Anti-rheumatic, Systemic
Uses
Rheumatoid diseases, osteoarthrosis, ankylosing spondylitis.
How to take it
Adults: 150-200 mg daily in divided doses; max 300 mg daily. Children: Not recommended.
Side effects
Gl intolerance, rash, rarely jaundice, thrombocytopenia, oedema, mouth ulcers, dizziness, visual disturbance.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Pregnancy: No evidence of risk in humans. Lactation: Contraindicated or not recommended. Contraindications: Active peptic ulcer, Gl bleeding. Aspirin/anti-inflammatory induced allergy. Precautions: Asthma. Renal , cardiac, or hepatic impairment. Hypertension, bleeding disorders.
Advice
Take with or without meals. To reduce GI upset, take with meals. Do not crush tablets. Swallow whole with a glass of water. Discontinue medication and inform prescriber if there is constant stomach pain/cramps, blood in stool. Contact prescriber if there is unusual cough, difficulty in breathing, fast heartbeat, chest pain, palpitations, blood in urine/stool/mouth, unusual bruising or bleeding, skin rash, itching, blisters, fever, swelling in extremities, ringing in ears, changes in hearing, acute fatigue, yellowing of skin or eyes, difficulty in speaking, indigestion. Avoid smoking and alcohol during therapy. Do not take aspirin, aspirin containing medications, anti-inflammatory…
