About Dexibuprofen

Anti-rheumatic, Systemic

Uses

Osteoarthritis, dysmenorrhoea, mild to moderate pain, dental pain.

How to take it

Adults: 600-900 mg daily in up to three divided doses; increased if necessary to max 1200 mg daily in three divided doses, max single dose 400 mg. Dysmenorrhoea: 900 mg daily, single dose of 300 mg. Children: Not recommended.

Side effects

GI upset, abdominal pain, rash (discontinue immediately), fatigue, drowsiness, headache, dizziness, vertigo.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Pregnancy: Contraindicated in pregnancy. Lactation: Contraindicated or not recommended. Contraindications: Active peptic ulcer or GI bleeding, aspirin/anti-inflammatory allergy, severe hepatic impairment, severe renal impairment, inflammatory bowel disease, severe congestive heart failure, coagulation disorders, Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, cerebrovascular bleeding, varicella. Precautions: Mild to moderate hepatic or renal impairment, history of GI ulceration or bleeding, alcoholism, ulcerative colitis, SLE, history of asthma, hypertension, CHF, ischaemic heart, peripheral arterial or cerebrovascular disease. Interactions with Dexibuprofen

Anticoagulants, diuretics, quinolones, antihypertensives, ACE inhibitors, cardiac glycosides, lithium, methotrexate, cyclosporin, tacrolimus, mifepristone, other NSAIDs, corticosteroids, phenytoin, sulfonylureas, probenecid, sulfinpyrazone, ticlopidine, zidovudine, antiplatelets, SSRIs, digoxin, sirolimus, aminoglycosides, phenobarbital, rifampicin, pemetrexed, sulfonylureas, trimethoprim, zidovudine.
