About Oxaprozin
Anti-rheumatic, Systemic
Uses
Inflammatory and painful conditions of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gouty arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, bursitis, tendinitis, sciatica. Dental pain and inflammation, dysmenorrhoea, post-operative and post-traumatic pain.
How to take it
Adults: 600 mg once a day. In acute Painful condition, initially 1200 mg daily. Max dose 26 mg/kg/day. Children: Not recommended.
Side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, gastralgia, vomiting, headache, skin rash, pruritus.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Pregnancy: Contraindicated in pregnancy. Lactation: Contraindicated or not recommended. Contraindications: Active peptic ulceration, hypersensitivity to oxaprozin, individuals with complete or partial syndrome of nasal polyps. Precautions: Impaired hepatic or renal impairment, upper gastro-intestinal disease.
Advice
Take with meals. Do not chew, crush or break tablets, swallow whole with a glass of water. Do not lie down for 15-30 minutes after taking medication. Discontinue medication and inform prescriber immediately if there is constant stomach pain/cramps, indigestion or blood in stool. Contact prescriber if there is unusual cough, difficulty in breathing, chest pain, palpitations, fast heartbeat, vaginal bleeding, unusual bruising or bleeding, blood in urine, mouth or vomitus, swelling in extremities, acute fatigue, skin rash, itching, blisters, fever, swelling of face/lips/tongue/throat, difficulty in speaking.
