About Vonoprazan
Antipeptic Ulcerant
Uses
Gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, reflux oesophagitis. Maintenance treatment of reflux oesophagitis, prevention of recurrence of gastric ulcer or duodenal ulcer during NSAIDs administration. Adjunct to H. pylori eradication.
How to take it
Adults: Gastric ulcer: 20 mg once daily for not more than 8 wks. Duodenal ulcer: 20 mg once daily for not more than 6 wks. Reflux/erosive oesophagitis: 20 mg once daily for not more than 4 wks. If needed, may be continued for up to 8 wks. Maintenance: 10 mg once daily. If needed, may be increased up to 20 mg once daily. Prevention of recurrence of gastric or duodenal ulcer during NSAID administration: 10 mg once daily. Adjunct to H. pylori eradication: 3-drug regimen twice daily for 7 days: 20 mg of Vonoprazan, 750 mg of Amoxicillin and 200 mg of Clarithromycin. Dose of clarithromycin may be increased if required. However, do not exceed dosage more than 400 mg/dose twice daily.…
Side effects
Diarrhoea, constipation, nausea, abdominal discomfort, taste abnormality, skin rash.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Pregnancy: Risk cannot be ruled out. Lactation: Contraindicated or not recommended. Precautions: Hepatic impairment, renal impairment. Elderly.
Advice
Take with or without meals.

Interactions with Vonoprazan
Avoid with drugs which depend on acidic gastric pH for absorption (e.g. atazanavir, rilpivirine, nelfinavir). Itraconazole, digoxin, tyrosine kinase inhibitors (e.g. gefitinib, nilotinib).
