About Lornoxicam
Anti-rheumatic, Systemic
Uses
Musculoskeletal and joint disorders such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Post-operative pain.
How to take it
Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis: Adults: 12 mg daily. Pain: Adults: 8-16 mg daily. Children: Not recommended.
Side effects
GI perforation, ulceration, bleeding or upset; monitor patient. Muco-cutaneous reactions including pruritus, rash, urticaria, angioedema, photosensitivity, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome. CNS or cardiovascular effects, blood dyscrasias, transient disturbances in liver tests. Headache, GI upset, fluid and electrolyte disturbances.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Pregnancy: Positive evidence of risk: Use only when no safer alternative exists for a serious problem. Lactation: Caution advised or effect undetermined. Contraindications: Aspirin/anti-inflammatory induced allergy. Active peptic ulcer, history of recurrent ulceration. Precautions: Severe cardiac insufficiency, hypovolaemia, dehydration, confirmed or suspected cerebrovascular bleeding. Haemorrhagic diathesis, operations with a risk of haemorrhage or incomplete haemostasis.
Advice
Take with meals. Contact prescriber if there is severe nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, muscle pain, diarrhoea, constipation, lack of sleep, dry mouth, stomach pain, depression, increased sleepiness.

Cimetidine. Anticoagulants, other NSAIDs, hypoglycaemics.
