About Diclofenac Sodium and Omeprazole

Anti-rheumatic, Systemic

Uses

Symptomatic treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis in patients at risk of developing NSAID associated gastric and/or duodenal ulcers.

How to take it

Adults: 1 cap once daily. Children: Not recommended.

Side effects

Headache, dizziness, giddiness, feeling sick, flatulence, diarrhoea, loss of appetite, stomach pain, other abnormal symptoms, indigestion, heartburn, changes in blood test, rash.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Pregnancy: Positive evidence of risk: Use only when no safer alternative exists for a serious problem. Lactation: Caution advised or effect undetermined. Precautions: Elderly. SLE. Crohn’ disease or ulcerative colitis. Asthma, hayfever, nose polyps, COPD. Hypertension. Hepatic or renal impairment. Difficulty swallowing. Increased weight. Cardiac problem. History of stroke.

Advice

Swallow whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, break or open the capsules. Take with or after meals. Take at the same time everyday. Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel dizziness after taking medication.

Interactions with Diclofenac Sodium and Omeprazole

Nelfinavir, saquinavir, lithium, NSAIDs, anti-hypertensives, anti-diabetics, ciprofloxacin, ciclosporin, tacrolimus, corticosteroids, digoxin, SSRIs, methotrexate, zidovudine, colestipol, cholestyramine, sulfinpyrazone, diazepam, phenytoin, rifampicin, atazanavir, St. John’s wort, cilostazol, clopidogrel, erlotinib, clarithromycin, anti-fungals.
