What it is used for

Lower and upper respiratory tract infections: tonsillitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, community acquired pneumonia. Skin and soft tissue infections, acute otitis media, mycobacterium avium infections.

Dosage

ORAL: Adults: 500 mg once daily or 250 mg twice daily with food for 7 to 14 days. Severe infections, 500 mg twice daily. Children: All twice daily. Under 1 yr, 7.5 mg/kg; 1-2 yr, 2.5 mL (62.5 mg); 3-6 yr, 5 mL (125 mg); 7-9 yr, 7.5 mL (187.5 mg); 10-12 yr, 10 mL (250 mg). Lower Respiratory Tract Infections: Adults: 250-500 mg every 12 hr for 7-14 days. Children:> 6 mth: 7.5 mg/kg every 12 hr for 10 days.
