About Ketorolac, Eye
Mydriatic, Cycloplegic
Uses
Prophylaxis and reduction of inflammation and associated symptoms following ocular surgery.
How to take it
Ocular Itching: Adults & Children: >3 yr: 1 drop 4 times daily. Post-Operative Inflammation: Adults & Children: >3 yr: 1 drop 4 times daily. Begin 24 hr post-op & continue for 2 wk. Pain/Photophobia: Adults & Children: >3 yr: 1 drop post-op four times daily as required up to 3 days.
Side effects
Transient stinging and burning, ocular irritation, blurred vision, eye inflammation, pain and oedema, eye infection, changes in vision, raised IOP, headache, conjunctival hyperaemia, retinal haemorrhage. Corneal epithelial breakdown (discontinue).
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Pregnancy: Contraindicated in pregnancy. Lactation: Contraindicated or not recommended. Contraindications: Aspirin/anti-inflammatory induced allergies. Soft contact lenses. Precautions: Bleeding tendencies, history of peptic ulceration. Ocular surgery, corneal denervation, corneal epithelial defects, diabetes, ocular surface diseases, rheumatoid arthritis. Soft contact lenses; wait 15 min before reinserting.
Advice
Wash hands properly before use. Remove contact lenses before use. Wait 15 minutes before reinserting. Do not wear soft contact lenses. To instill medication into eyes, tilt head back, look upward, instill drops or apply thin layer inside lower eyelid. Close eye and roll eyeball in all directions. Do not blink for 30 seconds. Apply gentle pressure to inner corner of eye for 30 seconds. Contact prescriber if there is eye pain; eye damage; eye infection; redness, burning, watering, puffiness around eyes; swelling, itching in eyes; changes in vision; loss of vision; no improvement or worsening of condition. Avoid touching tip of applicator with eye. Do not share medication with anyone else.…
