Uses
Inflammation of anterior segment.
How to take it
DROP: Adults & Children: Severe disease, 1 or 2 drops hourly. Mild disease, 1 or 2 drops 4-6 times daily. OINT: Adults & Children: Apply thin coating into conjunctival sac 3-4 times daily; gradually taper the dose to continue.
Side effects
Corneal thinning, cataract, rise in intra-ocular pressure; fungal infection, local irritation, avoid unnecessary use. Ear pain, hypersensitivity reactions.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Pregnancy: Risk cannot be ruled out. Contraindications: Viral, fungal, tuberculous or purulent infections. Soft contact lenses. Glaucoma. Perforated ear drum. Precautions: Prolonged use in infants. Risk of visual disturbances.
Advice
Wash hands properly before use. To instill medication into eyes, tilt head back, look upward, instill drops or apply thin layer of ointment inside lower eyelid. Close eye and roll eyeball in all directions. Do not blink. Apply gentle pressure to inner corner of eye for 30 seconds. Contact prescriber if there is eye pain, changes in vision, no improvement or worsening of condition. Avoid touching tip of applicator with eye. Avoid prolonged use. Do not use any other eye preparation for atleast 10 minutes. Do not share medication with anyone else. Wear sunglasses when in sunlight to prevent photosensitivity.
