Tulobuterol
Bronchodilator & Anti-asthma Preps: Orals/Parenterals · Beta-2 agonist
Indications
For prophylaxis and control of bronchospasm in bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, asthmatic bronchitis, pulmonary emphysema, bronchiectasis, tracheobronchitis with emphysema.
Dosage
Adults & Elderly: Initially 1 mg twice day, may be increased to max 2 mg twice a day after 7-10 days. Children: Over 12 yr, same as adult; 6-12 yr, 0.5 mg-1 mg (1/2 to 1 tsp) twice a day; 1-6 yr, 0.25 mg-5 mg (1/4 to 1/2 tsp) twice a day.
Adverse Effects
Finger tremor. Hypertension, angina, palpitations, vomiting, vertigo, CNS stimulation, insomnia, headache.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Pregnancy: Risk cannot be ruled out. Lactation: Caution advised or effect undetermined. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to sympathomimetics. Precautions: Patients with diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hypothyroidism, renal failure, impaired liver function, cardiac arrhythmias, coronary insufficiency. Women of child bearing age.
Interactions
Systemic sympathomimetics, beta-blocking agents.

Half-life elimination: Oral: 2-2.8 hrs. Time to peak, plasma: Oral: 0.7-1.3 hrs.
