Teneligliptin
Hypoglycaemic excluding Insulin · Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor
Indications
Type 2 diabetes mellitus along with diet and exercise.
Dosage
Adults: 20 mg orally once a day. If required, the dose may be increased up to 40 mg once a day with close monitoring.
Adverse Effects
Hypoglycaemia, constipation, intestinal obstruction, abdominal bloating/discomfort/pain, nausea, flatulence, stomatitis, gastric/colon polyps, duodenal ulcer, reflux oesophagitis, diarrhoea, loss of appetite, increased amylase/lipase, increased acute pancreatitis, proteinuria, urine ketone-positive, eczema, rash, itching, allergic dermatitis/rhinitis, increased CPK/AST/ALT/ALP/Y-GTP, elevation of serum uric acid.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Pregnancy: Positive evidence of risk: Use only when no safer alternative exists for a serious problem. Lactation: Contraindicated or not recommended. Contraindications: Severe ketosis, diabetic coma, history of diabetic coma, type 1 diabetic patients. Patients with severe infection, surgery, severe trauma. Precautions: Advanced hepatic failure, CHF, pituitary/adrenal insufficiency, poor nutritional state, starvation, an irregular dietary intake, or debilitating condition, intense muscle movement, and excessive alcohol intake. Patients with history of abdominal surgery or with a history of bowel obstruction. Arrhythmia, severe bradycardia or its history, low serum potassium, congenital prolonged QT syndrome, history of Torsades de pointes, use of antiarrhythmic drugs. Use of insulin secretagogue.
Interactions
Beta-blockers, MAO inhibitors, steroids, thyroid hormones.

Absorption: Rapid. Time to peak, plasma: 20 mg: 1.8 hrs. 40 mg: 1 hr.
