Indications
Acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSI) caused by designated susceptible bacteria (Gram +ve microorganisms).
Dosage
Adults and Children =12 yrs: 200 mg once daily for 6 days orally or as an IV infusion over 1 hr. Children <12 yrs: Not recommended.
Administration
Administer as an IV infusion only. Do not adm as an IV push or bolus. After reconstitution and dilution, adm via IV inf using a total time of 1 hr. Reconstitution: Reconst the vial with 4 mL of SWFI. Gently swirl the contents and let the vial stand until the cake has completely dissolved and any foam disperses. If necessary, invert the vial to dissolve any remaining powder and swirl gently to prevent foaming. Tilt the upright vial and insert a syringe with appropriately sized needle into the bottom corner of the vial and remove 4 mL of the reconst soln. Do not invert the vial during extraction. The reconst soln must be further diluted in 250 mL of 0.9% NaCl inj. Slowly inj the 4 mL of reconst soln into a 250 mL bag of 0.9% NaCl inj. Invert the bag gently to mix. Do not shake the bag. Adverse Effects
Nausea, headache, diarrhoea, infusion-or-injection-related adverse reactions, vomiting, dizziness.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Pregnancy: Risk cannot be ruled out. Lactation: Caution advised or effect undetermined. Precautions: Neutropaenia. Diarrhoea.
Interactions
BCRP substrates (Imatinib, Lapatinib, Methotrexate, Pitavastatin, Rosuvastatin, Sulfasalazine, Topotecan).
Advice to Patient
Take with or without meals. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible anytime up to 8 hrs prior to next scheduled dose. If <8 hrs remain before the next dose, wait until next scheduled dose. Report severe diarrhoea.
