Indications

To maintain catheter patency through anticoagulant action hence reducing the chances of infection in blood; alternative to heparin.

Dosage

Consult physician. To be administered under the supervision of an expert practitioner.

Administration

Clean the inj site with an alcohol swab, insert the needle at a 90-degree angle, and slowly inject the prescribed dose, ensuring the entire medication is delivered. Follow the healthcare provider's instructions for proper inj technique and dosage.

Adverse Effects

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain/cramps, bradycardia, hypotension, muscle weakness, paresthesia, confusion or agitation.

Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)

Contraindications: Severe dehydration. Precautions: Renal impairment. Monitor fluid balance and electrolyte levels, esp in prolonged use or high-dose regimens. Elderly.

Avoid excessive salt intake. Limit acidic foods. Stay hydrated by drinking enough water. Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice. Limit alcohol consumption. Consume a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Avoid high-protein diets.
