Silodosin
BPH & Drugs for Urinary Retention · Selective alpha-1 blocker
Indications
To treat the symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia-BPH).
Dosage
Adults: BPH: 8 mg once daily with meal. Renal impairment: (CrCl 30-50 mL/min): 4 mg once daily. Children: Not recommended.
Adverse Effects
Retrograde ejaculation, diarrhoea, dizziness, orthostatic hypotension, headache, nasopharyngitis, nasal congestion.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Contraindications: CrCl <30 mL/min, severe hepatic impairment (child-pugh score >10), concomitant use of CYP3A4 inhibitors or P-glycoprotein inhibitors.
Interactions
Amprenavir, atazanavir, clarithromycin, indinavir, delavirdine, fosamprenavir, saquinavir, telaprevir, itraconazole, telithromycin, ketoconazole, nefazodone, ritonavir, posaconazole, nelfinavir, voriconazole, conivaptan, boceprevir.
Advice to Patient
Take with or without meals. Inform ophthalmologist that you are taking silodosin if you have to undergo any eye surgery.
