Pseudoephedrine HCl
Cold Preparations · Sympathomimetic
Indications
Symptomatic relief of conditions such as allergic rhinitis, vasomotor rhinitis, common cold and influenza. It is decongestant of the mucous membrane of the upper resp. tract especially nasal mucosa and sinuses.
Dosage
Adults & Children over 12 yr: 1 tab 3 times daily.
Adverse Effects
Sleep disturbances, rash, hallucinations, urinary retention, prostatic enlargement.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Contraindications: In patients receiving MAOIs therapy or within two weeks of discontinuing such treatment, in patients with severe hypertension, severe coronary artery disease, or hyperthyroidism. Precautions: It should be used with caution in hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, elevated ocular pressure and prostatic enlargement, hepatic and renal impairment.
Interactions
Antihypertensive agents, tricyclic agents and other sympathomimetics such as decongestants, appetite suppressants, amphetamine-like psychostimulants.
