Indications
Treatment and peri-operative prophylaxis of haemorrhage in patients with congential deficiency of factors II, VII, IX, or X if purified specific Coagulation factors not available; treatment and peri-operative prophylaxis of haemorrhage in patients with acquired deficiency of factors II, VII, IX or X (e.g. during warfarin treatment).

Adverse Effects
Thrombotic events (including disseminated intravascular Coagulation); very rarely pyrexia, antibody formation, hypersensitivity reactions (including anaphylaxis); nephrotic syndrome also reported. Inhibitors to prothrombin complex factors, headache, heart failure, MI, tachycardia, hypotension, flushing, dyspnoea, wheezing, vomiting, nausea, rash, pruritus, increased body temperature.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Pregnancy: Risk cannot be ruled out. Contraindications: Angina; recent myocardial infarction (except in life-threatening haemorrhage following overdosage of oral anticoagulants and before induction of fibrinolytic therapy); history of heparin induced thrombocytopenia. Precautions: Risk of thrombosis; disseminated intravascular coagulation; history of myocardial infarction or coronary heart disease; hepatic disease; postoperative use.

Advice to Patient
Contact prescriber if there is severe allergic reaction (difficulty in breathing; rash; hives; chest tightness; swelling of the face, mouth, lips, tongue or throat; wheezing), confusion, blood with cough, pain/swelling/redness/tenderness in legs or arms, constant dizziness, headache, impaired speech, stomachache, difficulty in walking, unusual bruising or bleeding, changes in vision.

Onset of action: Rapid, significant INR decline within 10 min. Duration: Approx. 6-8 hrs. Half-life elimination: Factor II: 48-60 hrs. Factor VII: 1.5-6 hrs. Factor IX: 20-24 hrs. Factor X: 24-48 hrs. Protein C: 1.5-6 hrs. Protein S: 24-48 hrs.
