Bronchodilator & Anti-asthma Preps: Orals/Parenterals · Beta-2 agonist

Indications

Airway obstruction in bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis and pulmonary emphysema.

Dosage

Adults: 1 tab or 10 mL twice daily. Children: The following dose are to be taken twice daily. Up to 1 yr (4-10 kg): 1.25-2.5 mL; 2-5 yr (11-19 kg): 2.5-5 mL; 6-12 yr (20-40 kg): 5 mL or half tab; above 12 yr (above 40 kg): 5-10 mL or half to one tab.

Adverse Effects

Fine tremor, feeling of tension, headache, tachycardia, peripheral vasodilation.

Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)

Pregnancy: Risk cannot be ruled out. Lactation: Contraindicated or not recommended. Precautions: Hyperthyroidism, myocardial insufficiency, angina, cardiac arrhythmias, hypertension.

Interactions

Sympathomimetics.

Advice to Patient

Take with or without meals.

Absorption: Rapid. Metabolism: Hepatic. Half-life elimination: 4.2 hrs. Time to peak, plasma: 1.6 hrs.
