Indications

Active immunisation against pneumococcal disease.

Dosage

Adults & Children: Over 2 yr, by SC or IM route, a single injection of 0.5 mL.

Adverse Effects

Local reaction, low grade fever, relapse of patients with stabilized idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura.

Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)

Contraindications: Less than 10 days prior to or during immunosuppressive therapy. Patients with Hodgkin's disease who have received extensive chemotherapy and/or nodal irradiation. Pregnancy, lactation. Precautions: Severely compromised cardiac and pulmonary function. Febrile respiratory illness or active infection. Revaccination. See literature.
