Paracetamol and Pamabrom

Non-narcotic Analgesic · Diuretic/Para-aminophenol derivative

Indications

Temporarily relieve minor aches and pains in women due to: premenstrual and menstrual cramps, headache, backache. Temporarily relieve water-weight gain, bloating, swelling and full feeling associated with premenstrual syndrome and menstrual periods.

Dosage

Adults: 2 tab every 4 to 6 hr; max 8 tab in 24 hr. Children: Not recommended.

Adverse Effects

Hot, dry skin with decreased sweating, headache and increased thirst; fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeat, urinating less than usual or not at all, easy bruising or bleeding, weakness, fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms; or nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay coloured stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).

Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)

Pregnancy: Risk cannot be ruled out. Lactation: Caution advised or effect undetermined. Precautions: Stop immediately if new symptoms occur, redness or swelling is present, pain gets worse or lasts for more than 10 days. Caution should be exercised in patients with history of liver disease, may cause drowsiness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.

Interactions

Atropine, cholestyramine, isoniazid, warfarin, zidovudine, bronchodilator, oral diabetes medications, probenecid, medicine to treat stomach ulcers, incontinence, or irritable bowel syndrome.

Advice to Patient

Take with or without meals. If there is abdominal discomfort, take with meals. Discontinue medication and contact prescriber if there is no improvement, worsening of condition, constant pain or fever, redness and swelling. Avoid alcohol during therapy. Do not take with other medications containing paracetamol.
