Indications

Visceral leishmaniasis.

Dosage

Adults: 50-150 mg daily for 28 days.

Advice to Patient

Take with meals. Do not chew, crush or open capsules, swallow whole. Take plenty of water during treatment. Contact prescriber if there is severe nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, unusual bruising or bleeding, painful or difficult urination, swelling in feet/ankles, unusual tiredness, stomach pain, yellowing of white parts of eye, swelling on face/tongue, red or purple skin rash, sore throat.

Absorption: Slowly absorbed from the GI tract. Metabolism: Hepatic. Half-life elimination: 7 days. Terminal: 31 days. Time to peak, plasma: 7 hrs. Excretion: Urine (<0.2%).
