Indications
All disorders due to androgen deficiency, e.g. reduced efficiency in middle and advanced ages, potency disturbances, infertility, hypogonadism. For use in male patient only.
Dosage
Adults: Initially 1 tab three or four times daily for several mth. Maintenance, 2-3 tab daily. Children: Not applicable.
Adverse Effects
Female: Amenorrhoea and other menstrual irregularities. Male: Gynaecomastia, excessive frequency and duration of penile erections, inhibition of testicular function, testicular atrophy, impotence.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Contraindications: Carcinoma of the male breast or prostate, hypercalcaemia, impaired liver function, pregnancy, lactation. Precautions: Cardiac, hepatic or renal insufficiency, epilepsy, migraine, hypertension. Large and repeated doses in puberty may cause premature epiphyseal closure and stop linear growth. Hepatic adenocarcinoma may develop with prolonged use. In women high doses long term therapy produces virilism including irreversible voice deepening.
Interactions
In diabetic patients the metabolic effect of androgen may decrease blood glucose and insulin or hypoglycaemic agent requirements.

Absorption: Rapid. Metabolism: Hepatic. Bioavailability: Absolute: 3% of the oral dose. Half-life elimination: Terminal: 12-13 hrs. Excretion: Urine (80%). Faeces (13%).
