Pharmacokinetics

Metabolism: In systemic circulation, mesna is rapidly and almost completely oxidized to dimesna. Mesna and dimesna do not undergo hepatic metabolism. Half-life elimination: IV regimen: Mesna: 0.36 hrs. Dimesna: 1.17 hrs. IV and oral regimen: Mesna: 1.2-8.3 hrs. Time to peak, plasma: Mesna: 4 hrs. Dimesna: 3 hrs. Excretion: Urine (Mesna:18%-32%, dimesna: 33%).
