Indications
Post coital oral contraception within 72 hours of intercourse as an emergency measure.
Dosage
Adults: 1 tablet taken as soon as possible after intercourse (up to a max of 72 hr), then 1 tablet 12 hr (no later than 16 hr) after first dose. If vomiting occurs within 3 hr of either dose an additional tablet should be taken immediately. Children: Not recommended.
Adverse Effects
Vomiting, nausea.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Precautions: Severe hepatic impairment, severe malabsorption. Overdue menstrual bleeding. Unprotected intercourse more than 72 hours previously in current menstrual cycle. Patients who still become pregnant should be monitored for ectopic pregnancy.
