Levocetirizine
Antihistamine, Systemic · R-enantiomer of cetirizine
Indications
Seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis. Chronic idiopathic urticaria.
Dosage
Adults: 5 mg daily. Children: Under 2 yr, not recommended; 2-6 yr, 1.25 mg twice daily; 6-18 yr, 5 mg once daily.
Adverse Effects
Somnolence, dry mouth, fatigue, rhinitis, migraine, abdominal pain, nausea, dizziness, pharyngitis.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Pregnancy: Risk cannot be ruled out. Lactation: Contraindicated or not recommended. Contraindications: Severe renal impairment. Hypersensitivity to hydroxyzine. Precautions: Renal impairment, epilepsy, risk factors for urinary retention. Risk of pruritus.
Interactions
Alcohol.
Advice to Patient
Take with or without meals. For oral solution, use appropriate measuring device. Avoid alcohol during therapy.

Absorption: Rapid and extensive. Metabolism: Hepatic. Half-life elimination: 8-9 hrs. Time to peak, plasma: Oral: 0.9 hr. Excretion: Urine (85.4%). Faeces (12.9%).
