Indications
Diverticular disease, spastic and irritable colon. Constipation due to insufficient fiber.
Dosage
Adults: 1 sachet in a glass of water morning & evening. Children: Above 6 yr, 2.5-5 gm in a glass of water morning & evening.
Adverse Effects
Flatulence, abdominal distension, faecal impaction, intestinal and oesophageal obstruction, allergic reactions.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Contraindications: Intestinal obstruction, colonic atony, reduced GI motility, faecal impaction, phenylketonuria. Precautions: Maintain adequate fluid intake, elderly, debilitated, intestinal narrowing or reduced motility. Avoid inhalation of powder.
Interactions
Digoxin, coumarins, lithium, vit B12, calcium, iron, zinc.
Advice to Patient
Take with meals. Do not take without water. For making solution, take the required amount and mix into a glass of cold water or milk (150 mL) and drink immediately.
