Indications

Diabetes mellitus.

Dosage

Adults: By SC once daily preferably at the same time each day. Children: Under 18 years: Not recommended.

Adverse Effects

Hypoglycaemia, inj site reactions.

Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)

Precautions: Dose changes may also be required with infection, diseases of the adrenal, pituitary or thyroid, stress, exercise, trauma, surgery, dietary changes and at puberty. Renal or hepatic impairment. Rotate inj sites to avoid lipodystrophy. Elderly.

Interactions

Cyclophosphamide, antidepressants, antipsychotics, lithium, antihypertensives, sympathomimetics, disopyramide, alcohol, diuretics, fibrates, corticosteroids, sex hormones, somatropin, somatostatin analogues, hypoglycaemics, salicylates, NSAIDs, sulfonamides, tetracyclines, antimalarials, isoniazid, mebendazole, pentamidine, thyroid hormones, danazol, anabolic steroids, pentoxifylline, protease inhibitors.
