Indications

Treatment of diabetes mellitus in adults, adolescents and children from the age of 2 years.

Dosage

Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: Recommended daily starting dose is 10 units with meal followed by individual dosage adjustments. Patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus: Recommended daily starting dose is 60-70% of the total daily insulin requirements. It is to be used once daily at mealtime in combination with short-/rapid-acting insulin at the remaining meals followed by individual dosage adjustments.

Adverse Effects

Immune system disorders, hypoglycemia, lipodystrophy, injection site reactions (haematoma, pain, hemorrhages, erythema, nodules, swelling, discoloration, and pruritus), allergic reaction, edema, weight gain.

Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)

Precautions: Hypoglycaemia, hyperglycaemia, transfer from other insulin products, combination of thiazolidinediones and insulin products, eye disorders. Hypokalemia.

Interactions

Oral antidiabetic medicinal products, GLP-1 receptor agonists, MAOI, beta blockers, ACE inhibitors, salicylates, anabolic steroids, sulfonamides, oral contraceptives, thiazides, glucocorticoids, thyroid hormones, sympathomimetic, growth hormone, danazol, alcohol, clonidine, guanethidine, reserpine.
