Indications
Prophylaxis of influenza, especially those who run an increased risk of associated complications. Vaxigrip sub-unit Tetra is indicated in adults and children from 3 yrs of age. The use of vaxigrip should be based on official recommendations.
Dosage
Adults: 0.5 mL. Children: From 36 mths onward, 0.5 mL. 6 mths-35 mths: Clinical data are limited. 0.25 mL or 0.5 mL may be given. The dose given should be in accordance with existing national recommendations. For children who have not previously been vaccinated, a 2nd dose should be given after an interval of at least 4 wks. <6 mths: Not recommended.
Administration
Immunization should be carried out via IM or deep SC inj.
Adverse Effects
Headache, sweating, myalgia, arthralgia, fever, malaise, shivering, fatigue, local reactions including redness, swelling, pain, ecchymosis (bruising), induration (hardness).
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Contraindications: Febrile illness. Acute infection.
Interactions
Corticosteroids, cytotoxic drugs, radiotherapy.
