Anti-rheumatic, Systemic · Glycosaminoglycan (aminoacid)

Indications

Osteoarthritis.

Dosage

Adults: 500 mg three times daily. Children: Not recommended.

Adverse Effects

Nausea, epigastric discomfort, urticaria, pruritus, headache, fatigue.

Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)

Pregnancy: Risk cannot be ruled out. Lactation: Caution advised or effect undetermined. Contraindications: Shellfish allergy. Precautions: Diabetic patients. Hypercholesterolaemia; caution in patients with cardiovascular disease risk. Asthma.

Interactions

Coumarin anticoagulants.

Advice to Patient

Take as prescribed. For sachet, dissolve contents in a glass of water and drink. Discontinue medication atleast 2 weeks before surgery. Contact prescriber if there is difficulty in breathing, swelling on face/lips/tongue, diarrhoea, constipation or nausea. Blood cholesterol and sugar level should be regularly checked.
