Indications
Infected skin conditions, including impetigo, skin ulcers, burns, folliculitis, wounds.
Dosage
Adults & Children: Apply three or four times daily.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Precautions: Large areas of damaged skin.
Advice to Patient
Apply thin layer to affected areas. Porous dressing may be applied. Contact prescriber if there is constant pain, burning, changes in vision, itching, swelling, lack of response or worsening of condition.
Pharmacokinetics
Absorption: Readily absorbed from large burnt, denuded or granulating areas but not through intact skin. Faster and greater absorption with the cream compared to the ointment. Metabolism: Not metabolized. Half-life elimination: Adults: 2-3 hrs. Severe renal impairment: 24-60 hrs. Excretion: Urine.
