Indications
Uncomplicated urinary tract infection in women.
Dosage
Uncomplicated urinary tract infection in women: >18 yr: Sachet: One 3 gm single-dose sachet. Mix with 3-4 oz of water.
Adverse Effects
Headache, rash, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, epigastric discomfort, dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, pruritus, colitis, anaphylaxis, pseudomembranous.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Pregnancy: No evidence of risk in humans. Lactation: Contraindicated or not recommended. Contraindications: Severe renal impairment, haemodialysis. Precautions: Mild to moderate renal impairment.
Interactions
Antacids, metoclopramide and drugs altering GI motility.
Pharmacokinetics
Absorption: Rapidly absorbed following oral administration. Metabolism: Not metabolized. Bioavailability: 30%-40%. Time to peak, plasma: 2 hrs. Excretion: Urine (mainly).
