Fluticasone Propionate

Indications
Seasonal allergic rhinitis, perennial rhinitis.
Dosage
Adults: 2 sprays in each nostril once daily in the morning. Maintenance, 1 spray in each nostril once daily, use minimum effective dose. Max 4 sprays in each nostril daily. Children: Under 4 yr, not recommended; 4-11 yr, 1 spray in each nostril once daily in the morning; max 2 sprays in each nostril daily.
Adverse Effects
Nasal irritation, epistaxis, taste disturbances, hypersensitivity, headache. Rarely, septal perforation, nasal ulceration, bronchospasm, anaphylaxis.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Precautions: Treat nasal infections. Transferring from systemic steroids. Prolonged treatment with high doses increases risk of adrenal suppression and systemic effects. Consider additional systemic steroids in stress or surgery. Monitor height of children on prolonged therapy. Pregnancy, lactation.
Interactions
Potent inhibitors of CYP3A4.

Metabolism: Hepatic. Half-life elimination: Approx. 7.8 hrs. Time to peak: 1 hr.
