Indications

Prophylaxis and treatment of allergic rhinitis.

Dosage

Prophylaxis and treatment of allergic rhinitis: Adults: 55 mcg (2 sprays) into each nostril once daily; when control achieved reduce to minimum effective dose, 27.5 mcg (1 spray) into each nostril once daily may be sufficient. Children: 6-12 yr: 27.5 mcg (1 spray) into each nostril once daily, increased if necessary to 55 mcg (2 sprays) into each nostril daily; when control achieved reduce to 27.5 mcg (1 spray) into each nostril once daily.

Adverse Effects

Nasal irritation, epistaxis, taste disturbances, hypersensitivity, headache. Rarely, septal perforation, nasal ulceration, bronchospasm, anaphylaxis.

Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)

Precautions: Treat nasal infections. Transferring from systemic steroids. Prolonged treatment with high doses increases risk of adrenal suppression and systemic effects. Consider additional systemic steroids in stress or surgery. Monitor height of children on prolonged therapy. Pregnancy, lactation.

Interactions

Potent inhibitors of CYP3A4.
