Indications

Inhibition of intra-operative miosis. Post-operative trabeculoplasty inflammation of the anterior segment when topical corticosteroids are contraindicated.

Dosage

Adults & Children: Inhibition of intra-operative miosis: 1 drop every 30 min, beginning 2 hr prior to surgery (total 4 drops in each affected eye).

Adverse Effects

Transient burning, ocular irritation and pain, may delay wound healing.

Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)

Pregnancy: Risk cannot be ruled out. Lactation: Contraindicated or not recommended. Contraindications: Epithelial herpes simplex, keratitis, intra-ocular use during surgery. Aspirin/anti-inflammatory induced allergy or asthma.

Interactions

Drugs that prolong bleeding time.

Advice to Patient

Wash hands properly before use. Remove contact lenses before use. Wait 15 minutes before reinserting. To instill medication into eyes, tilt head back, look upward, instill drops or apply thin layer inside lower eyelid. Close eye and roll eyeball in all directions. Do not blink for 30 seconds. Apply gentle pressure to inner corner of eye for 30 seconds. Contact prescriber if there is eye pain; eye damage; eye infection; redness, burning, watering, puffiness around eyes; changes in vision; loss of vision; no improvement or worsening of condition. Avoid touching tip of applicator with eye. Do not share medication with anyone else. Wait 5 minutes before instilling any other medication. Wear dark glasses to prevent sensitivity from bright light.

Absorption: After ophthalmic administration, absorbed systemically. Metabolism: Hepatic. Half-life elimination: 4.7-5.7 hrs. Excretion: Urine.
