Indications

Incontinence, frequency, urgency, nocturia and dysuria.

Dosage

Adults: 100-200 mg three to four times daily; reduce dose when symptoms improve. Children: Not recommended.

Adverse Effects

Headache, nausea, fatigue, diarrhoea, dry mouth, GI upset, dizziness, blurred vision, skin disorders, eosinophilia, palpitations, tachycardia.

Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)

Pregnancy: No evidence of risk in humans. Lactation: Caution advised or effect undetermined. Contraindications: Obstructive conditions of the gastro-intestinal or urinary tracts. Precautions: Glaucoma.

Advice to Patient

Take with or without meals. Contact prescriber if there is confusion, drowsiness, dysuria, headache, high fever, hives, nausea, vomiting, nervousness, palpitations, rash, tachycardia, vertigo, change in vision, or worsening dry mouth. Wear sunglasses when outside. Take sugarless candy or gum, ice chips, sips of water, or saliva substitute to prevent dry mouth. Avoid heat, do not take hot baths or saunas during therapy.

Onset: 55 mins. Absorption: Well absorbed from GI tract. Metabolism: Rapid. Time to peak: 112 mins. Excretion: Urine (50%-60% of dose).
