Indications

Iron deficiency when oral iron preparations are ineffective or cannot be used.

Dosage

Adults: See literature. Children <14 yr: Not recommended.

Adverse Effects

Headache, dizziness, GI upset, abdominal pain, rash, inj site reactions.

Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)

Precautions: Risk of anaphylaxis, hepatic impairment, acute or chronic infections, asthma, eczema, atopic allergies, 2nd and 3rd trimester of pregnancy.

Interactions

Oral iron.

Pharmacokinetics

Half-life elimination: Terminal: 7-12 hrs. Excretion: Negligible renal elimination.
