Indications

For induction of general anaesthesia.

Dosage

Adults & Children: > 6 mth: IV: 150-300 mcg/kg; Elderly: 150-200 mcg/kg.

Pharmacokinetics

Onset of action: 30-60 sec. Peak effect: 1 min. Duration: Dose dependent: 2-3 mins (0.15 mg/kg dose); 3-5 mins (0.3 mg/kg dose); rapid recovery is due to rapid redistribution. Metabolism: Hepatic and plasma esterases. Half-life elimination: Terminal: 2.6-3.5 hrs. Time to peak, serum: 7 mins. Excretion: Urine (approx. 75%).
