Indications

Cycle disturbances e.g. selected cases of primary and secondary amenorrhoea, oligo and hypomenorrhoea, dysfunctional bleeding without overt organic disorders.

Dosage

Depending upon clinical need, 1 mL daily for 2-5 days. This treatment should be repeated for at least 3 monthly cycle.

Adverse Effects

Intramenstrual bleeding, excessive production of cervical mucous, tenderness, pain or enlargement of breasts, nausea, vomiting, cholestatic jaundice, thrombosis, rise of blood pressure, water salt retention and reduced glucose tolerance.

Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)

Contraindications: Pregnancy, cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disorders e.g. thrombophlebitis, thromboembolic process, serious hypertension, severe liver disorders, known or suspected oestrogen dependent tumours etc. Precautions: The preparation should neither be used for the diagnosis of pregnancy nor for the management of threatened or habitual abortion. Treatment should be discontinued if liver function tests become abnormal. During prolonged treatment with oestrogen/progestogen periodic medical examinations are advisable, patients with cardiac failure, renal dysfunction, sickle cell trait and with oestrogen sensitive gynaecological disorder should be monitored.

Diuretics, antihypertensives, liver enzyme inducing drugs.
