Dulaglutide
Hypoglycaemic excluding Insulin · GLP- 1 agonist
Indications
Type II diabetes.
Dosage
Adults: Once weekly at any time of day. Initial dose: 0.75 mg subcutaneously once weekly. Dose can be increased to 4.5 mg once weekly for additional glycaemic control. Children: Not recommended.
Administration
Inject subcutaneously in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm.
Adverse Effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, abdominal pain, decreased appetite.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Lactation: Contraindicated or not recommended. Contraindications: Patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or in patients with multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2. Precautions: Thyroid C-cell tumours, pancreatitis, hypoglycaemia, hypersensitivity, renal impairment.
Pharmacokinetics
Metabolism: Via general protein catabolism pathways. Bioavailability: Absolute: 0.75 mg dose: 65%. 1.5 mg dose: 47%. Half-life elimination: Approx. 5 days. Time to peak, plasma: SC: 24-72 hrs.
