Corticosteroid Combinations, Topical · Corticosteroid/Imidazole antifungal

Indications

Initial or interim therapy of dermatomycoses in which inflammatory & eczematous skin conditions are present.

Dosage

Adults & Children: Local application twice daily as long as inflammatory conditions are present. Treatment must be terminated after the regression of the concomitant inflammation. At the latest after 2 wk.

Advice to Patient

Wash and dry the skin before applying. Apply a thin film to cover affected areas and rub gently. Wash hands thoroughly after applying, unless hands are the area being treated. A strip of gauze smeared with cream between the toes or fingers may be placed if there is infection in interdigital spaces. Do not use for more than prescribed period of time. Avoid contact of medication with eyes. In case of contact, wipe off the medication and rinse thoroughly with water. Do not use occlusive dressings unless recommended by the prescriber. Do not use corticosteroid preparations in nappy area of infants.

Pharmacokinetics

DIFLUCORTOLONE Absorption: Rapidly absorbed into the skin. It may be absorbed systemically. The percutaneous absorption depends on the vehicle, dose, treatment area, duration of treatment, the condition of treatment, the status of penetration barrier and localization of treated area in the body. Metabolism: Hepatic. Half-life elimination: 4-5 hrs. Excretion: Urine (75%). Faeces (25%). ISOCONAZOLE: Absorption: <1% of the applied dose reaches systemic circulation. Isoconazole penetrates rapidly into human skin and reaches maximum levels in the horny layer and in the living skin already 1 hour after application. Metabolism: Completely metabolized. Excretion: Rapid.
