Antibacterial · Antibacterial/Pantothenic acid derivative

Indications

Superficial wounds of any kind, when there is a risk of infection; e.g. cuts, scratches, burns, sores, dermatitis, scraps, rhagades. Chronic wounds such as leg ulcers and decubitis ulcers. Skin infections e.g. secondary infected eczema and neurodermatitis. Treatment of cracked nipples in nursing mothers. Minor surgery: injuries and surgical wounds.

Dosage

Apply cream one or more times daily as needed to cleaned wounds or inflamed skin areas.

Adverse Effects

Rarely skin reactions and burning.

Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)

Contraindications: Chlorhexidine must not be applied to a perforated eardrum. Precautions: Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.

Pharmacokinetics

DEXPANTHENOL: Absorption: Rapid. Rate of penetration and absorption is decreased when Dexpanthenol is administered as an oil/water formula. Metabolism: Readily converted to pantothenic acid. CHLORHEXIDINE: Duration: 6 hrs. Absorption: Poorly absorbed from the skin.
