Indications
Infected ocular inflammation.
Dosage
DROP: Adults & Children: 1-2 drops four to six times daily. OINT: Adults & Children: Apply three to four times daily.
Adverse Effects
Rise in intra-ocular pressure, corneal thinning, cataract, fungal infection.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Contraindications: Viral, fungal, tuberculous or purulent infections. Glaucoma. Soft contact lenses. Precautions: Prolonged use in pregnancy or in infants.
Advice to Patient
Wash hands properly before use. To instill medication into eyes, tilt head back, look upward, instill drops or apply thin layer of ointment inside lower eyelid. Close eye and roll eyeball in all directions. Do not blink for 30 seconds. Apply gentle pressure to inner corner of eye for 30 seconds. Contact prescriber if there is eye pain, changes in vision, no improvement or worsening of condition. Avoid touching tip of applicator with eye. Avoid prolonged use. Do not use any other eye preparation for atleast 10 minutes. Do not share medication with anyone else. Wear sunglasses when in sunlight to prevent photosensitivity.

DEXAMETHASONE: Absorption: Well-absorbed. NEOMYCIN: Metabolism: Not metabolized. Excretion: Urine. POLYMYXIN B: Absorption: Not absorbed significantly into the aqueous humor of the eye even when inflammation is present. Excretion: Urine (60%).
