Indications

Adjunctive therapy for inflammation in acute and chronic corticosteroid responsive dermatosis.

Dosage

Adults: Corticosteroid responsive dermatoses: Topical: Apply 2 - 4 times per day sparingly. Children: Not recommended.

Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)

Pregnancy: Risk cannot be ruled out. Lactation: Caution advised or effect undetermined.

Advice to Patient

For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not cover the treated skin area with bandage, unless advised by the prescriber.

Pharmacokinetics

Absorption: Dependent on nature of skin at application; occlusion and inflammation may increase absorption. Metabolism: After topical administration, drug is metabolized primarily in the skin. Once in the systemic circulation, desonide is metabolized hepatically. Excretion: Urine (primarily). Faeces (small amounts of metabolites).
