Indications
Acne vulgaris.
Dosage
Adults and Children =9 yrs: Apply once daily. If there is no improvement after 12 wks, treatment should be reassessed.
Adverse Effects
Pruritus, application site dryness.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Pregnancy: No evidence of risk in humans. Lactation: Caution advised or effect undetermined. Precautions: Methaemoglobinaemia; discontinue if occurs. Haemolysis, G6PD deficiency.
Interactions
Trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole. Topical benzoyl peroxide may lead to temporary local yellow or orange skin discolouration.
Advice to Patient
After the skin is gently washed and patted dry, apply approx. a pea-sized amount of gel in a thin layer to the entire face. A thin layer can also be applied to other affected areas. Rub in, gently and completely. For topical use only. Not for oral, ophthalmic, or intravaginal use.
