Indications

Prevention of acute organ rejection in de novo allogeneic renal transplants in conjunction with an immunosuppressive regimen.

Dosage

Adults & Children: 1 mg/kg by IV infusion over 15 min starting within 24 hr, before transplant. Repeat four times at 14 day intervals.

Administration

IV infusion: Dilute calculated dose of daclizumab in 50 mL of normal saline solution. Gently invert bag to mix. To prevent foaming, don’t shake it. Compatibility: Do not add or simultaneously infuse other drugs through same IV line. Stability: Use room temperature solution within 4 hours or refrigerate it for up to 24 hours. Discard unused solution.

Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)

Pregnancy: Contraindicated in pregnancy. Lactation: Contraindicated or not recommended. Precautions: Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation equipment must be available. Concomitant use of other antilymphocyte therapy.

Bioavailability: Approx. 90%. Metabolism: Catabolized to peptides and amino acids. Half-life elimination: Terminal: Approx. 21 days. Time to peak, plasma: 5-7 days.
