Anti-acne Preps · Lincosamide
Indications
Moderate to severe acne vulgaris.
Dosage
Adults & children >12yrs: Apply two times daily. Children <12yrs: Not recommended.
Adverse Effects
Dry skin, dermatitis. Diarrhoea or colitis (discontinue immediately). Cervicitis, vaginal candidiasis, vulvovaginitis, abdominal cramps, pruritus.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Contraindications: Lincomycin sensitivity. History of IBS or antibiotic-associated colitis. Precautions: Avoid eyes and mucous membrane.
Interactions
Keratolytics, neuromuscular blocking agents, erythromycin, vit K antagonists.
Advice to Patient
Before application, wear gloves or wash hands. Apply a thin layer of medication to affected areas. Porous dressing may be applied. Contact prescriber if there is constant swelling, burning, itching or worsening of condition.

Absorption: Minimal (4%-5%). Metabolism: Hepatic. Excretion: Urine.
