Indications
Induce ovulation in the treatment of anovulatory infertility or as an adjunct to IVF procedures and other assisted conception techniques. In Males: Prepubertal cryptorchidism, infertility associated with hypogonadism.
Dosage
Adults: Inj: By SC: 250 mcg; as a single dose. Children: Not applicable.
Administration
For SC use only. Reconstitution: It is intended for a single SC injection and should be administered following reconstitution with 1 mL of sterile water. Stability: Powder for reconstitution: Store in original package under refrigeration or at room temperature of 2°C-25°C (36°F-77°F). Protect from light. Prefilled syringe: Prior to dispensing, store at 2°C-8°C (36°F-46°F). Patient may store at 25°C (77°F) for up to 30 days. Protect from light.
Adverse Effects
Pleural effusion, depression, oedema, ovarian hyperstimulation, gynaecomastia.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Pregnancy: Contraindicated in pregnancy. Lactation: Caution advised or effect undetermined. Contraindications: Primary ovarian failure, uncontrolled thyroid and adrenal dysfunction, uncontrolled organic intracranial lesions, abnormal uterine bleeding, ovarian cyst. Precautions: Epilepsy, cardiovascular, renal disorders, carcinomas of prostate, precocious puberty. Breast, uterine, ovarian and testicular tumours.
Advice to Patient
Contact prescriber if there is constant abdominal pain, vomiting, acute pelvic pain, chest pain, palpitations, shortness of breath, vaginal infection, urinary tract infection, urinary incontinence. Keep all appointment of lab tests and ultrasounds, as advised by prescriber. Avoid exercises involving pelvic movement. Wear cool dress, stay in cool room, take sufficient rest to prevent hot flashes.
